WEST ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The West Odessa Water Warriors, a local non-profit organization, announced that a grant application the organization submitted to Ector County is being pursued to expand water connections to the residents of West Odessa through the Ector County Utility District.

The organization said this effort is being led by Ector County Commissioner Mike Gardner, of Precinct One, who wants to improve water availability for the community.

“We are pleased that the county is taking the lead on this important initiative; the grant is $750,000,” said Patti Kappauf, founder and president of the West Odessa Water Warriors. “This grant has the potential to make a significant difference in our community and give more residents the access they need to safe and reliable water. We encourage everyone to come out and support this crucial step forward.”

The county court will call a special meeting on December 3 to approve the decision needed to begin the first step in the grant application process. The time of the meeting will be shared after the official agenda is posted by the court. The organization encourages the community to attend the meeting to show their support for the resolution and the ongoing efforts to improve access to water in West Odessa.
