ODHS investigates the following persons:

  • Mark Collins for alleged sexual abuse
  • Eric Stearns for alleged sexual abuse
  • Katy Wagner for alleged negligence in failing to report child safety concerns
  • Carla Pletsch for alleged sexual abuse
  • Desmond Stoudamier for alleged sexual assault
  • Scot Stockwell for alleged negligence in failing to report child safety concerns

According to the ODHS, there were no previous reports against these St. Helens staff between July 2019 and October 2024.

Officials say that prior to October 2024, there were no previous reports of security issues at St. Helen’s High School.

St Helens High School was closed from November 14-17 just days after police announced the arrest of Eric Stearns and Mark Collins on 12 Nov.

According to community members, school officials closed the school to have a field day for staff to learn how to properly handle allegations of sexual abuse.

Officials also say they are investigating a middle school teacher in St. Helens for misconduct, but has not released their names or the nature of their alleged crimes.

Authorities urge anyone who suspects ongoing child abuse or neglect to call the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline at 1-855-503-SAFE (7233).
