The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a recent scam

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a recent scam circulating in the community.

The sheriff’s office said it has received numerous complaints about a scam involving a phone call from a person identifying themselves as “Ashley Phillips with the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.”

The person involved in the scam then states that the person they have called has an ongoing legal matter. The scammer then tries to solicit money from the caller, per WCSO.

No one named Ashley Phillips is employed by the sheriff’s office, according to WCSO.

Additionally, WCSO said they would never handle a situation like this incident.
