Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have announced that they are expecting a child.

The Australian forward and American midfielder confirmed the news with a post on social media, revealing that Mewis is carrying the child.

“Mewis-Kerr baby coming in 2025!” said the Instagram post, which included a photo of Mewi’s belly and ultrasound images.

The couple went public with their relationship in 2021, and announced their engagement in November 2023.

Following their engagement, Mewis left NJ/NY Gotham FC and joined West Ham to live in the same city as Chelsea star Kerr.

Injuries have slowed down Mewis since joining the Hammers, as the 33-year-old made just three total appearances last season. The midfielder made an appearance this season, coming on as a substitute in West Ham’s opener against Manchester United in September.

Kerr has also dealt with injuries of late, after suffering a torn ACL in January. Australia’s all-time leading goalscorer was forced to miss the Olympics over the summer and is yet to return to action.

Last week, Australia head coach Tom Sermanni said Kerr was dealing with “probably a 12-month injury”, pushing her return to 2025.
