Joe Rogan reveals why he finally had Trump on his hit podcast after years of ‘turning him down’

Joe Rogan has revealed that he finally had Donald Trump on his podcast after the presidential candidate was shot earlier this year.

Trump appeared alongside the 57-year-old comedian despite Rogan previously saying he had turned down offers to have the former president on the podcast.

Speaking to the presidential candidate in a wide-ranging interview, Rogan referenced Trump’s interview with comedian Theo Von in August of this year.

Trump asked, “Is that why you called me to do this,” to which Rogan replied, “No. When they shot you, I was like, ‘He’s got to get in here.’

Showing off the wound he suffered when gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire on him in July this year, Trump said: “It went out there.”

Rogan replies, “It healed up pretty damn good man,” to which Trump said it wasn’t like UFC fighters for whom Rogan also provides color commentary.

Trump told Rogan that the attempt on his life and the scarring had made him a “tougher guy.”

Rogan said in 2022 that he would never have Trump on his podcast for fear it would help his campaign.

During a 2022 interview with Lex Fridman, Rogan told him that he had turned down several offers to have Trump on his podcast.

He defiantly said: ‘I am not a Trump supporter in any way, shape or form. I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once — I’ve said no, every time.

‘I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping him.

More recently, he had started to back off on this, seemingly alluding to the possibility in an episode with guest Patrick Bet-David last year.

Bet-David asked Rogan if he wanted him, to which he nonchalantly replied “I don’t know”.

Bet-David looked further and smiled, suggesting he thought Rogan might have something up his sleeve, to which he cryptically replied, “Maybe.”

In the same interview with Patrick Bet-David, Rogan also discussed a list of questions he already had in mind if Trump were to appear on his show.

He said to his guest: ‘I would like to know what it is like when you actually come to duty? I would like to know things like how is it versus perception?

‘When do you know people are messing with you? When do you know the intelligence service (lies) to you?

‘When you decided to fire (former FBI director James) Comey, what was the thought? How much did you know? How is the machine? What is the deep state really like?

The first question Rogan asked Trump on Friday was what it was like when he actually took office.

Just last month, Trump was also interviewed by Fridman and said he had not been invited to appear on the podcast.

Trump seemed less than enthusiastic when discussing Rogan, who had to roll back what was seen as an endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy after a MAGA train.

Rogan had drawn the ire of Trump supporters, and Trump himself, after a clip from his show indicated he was endorsing RFK Jr. as president.

‘It will be interesting to see how loud Joe Rogan gets BUED the next time he steps into the UFC ring???’ Trump asked in a post on Truth Social.

Fridman asked Trump if there was any tension between the two. Trump said: “I don’t think there was any tension and I’ve always liked him.” But I don’t know him.

As part of his podcast appearance, Trump also spoke freely about UFOs, the unopened JFK and Martin Luther King assassination files, and his recent outraged death.
