This came as his Enugu counterpart, Peter Mbah, approved a new minimum wage of N80,000 for the state workforce, including local governments, effective October 2024. He became the first South East governor to announce more than N70k federal government negotiated with organized labor.

Soludo encouraged workers to consider the defined contribution pension scheme, stressing the importance of retirement planning. Labor leaders, led by Humphrey Nwafor and Chris Ogbonna, praised the governor’s “worker friendly” approach and acknowledged the positive impact of these initiatives on the lives of workers.

Governor’s efforts to improve training in the state are also noteworthy. He announced the extension of free education to secondary school students in all public schools, building on the existing policy of providing free education from primary to senior secondary level. Adding that this initiative aims to make quality education accessible to all, especially the poorest families.
