Frankie Muniz reveals the challenge of signing sponsors for NASCAR despite Hollywood fame

Next year 2025, Frankie Muniz will enter his first full-time season in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Surely someone named Muniz will be able to land a lot of sponsors, right?

Well, it’s complicated. Frankie Muniz is good for the 2025 season. He has all the sponsorship he needs. But there would be real benefit to picking up more partners, getting extra lap time in ARCA or the Xfinity Series.

Muniz competes at Homestead-Miami this weekend. He spoke to the media about the challenge of landing sponsors. Even with his name and Hollywood status, it’s tough.

“There’s a lot of big marques on race cars. One thing, and this is nothing against it, but a lot of companies that you see on a lot of cars are family members or dads, or you know, friends’ companies like that,” said Frankie Muniz, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I would say it has surprised me even this week with the announcement, I didn’t know how well it was going to be received but it kind of went all over the place. I was watching SportsCenter and they were talking about me joining the Truck Series.

“So, good in the sense that it might bring eyeballs to the series that aren’t watching, and I hope so. But at the same time as I’m going, my phone isn’t ringing off the hook with potential sponsors. It’s part of the job, you’re constantly looking for money .I mean, I would say 90% of being a racer is finding funding to keep doing it. So we’re good for next year. Of course we’d like to add more partners because then I’d just be able to do more races. I could add ARCA races, we can do other things just to keep getting as much experience as possible and that’s our goal as a team.”

Muniz knows it’s all about making connections. However, these connections are not easy to make.

“A lot of it is relationships and finding someone who believes in what you’re trying to do,” Frankie Muniz continued. “You know, and that’s what we’re trying to tell the story of what we’re trying to achieve and what we can offer them. It’s got to be a win-win for everybody, right? And that’s what we’re trying to do as a team and I drivers to make sure they’re not just writing a check that gets me racing, they’re actually benefiting from what we’re doing on the racetrack.”

So if it’s hard for a Hollywood actor to get a sponsor, it’s hard for everyone. These things don’t come easily. There’s a reason teams work to get as many partnerships as they can. Every little bit helps.

Although it is difficult to get sponsors, don’t worry. Frankie Muniz has plenty of sponsorship for his rookie season in the Truck Series.
