Sadtu reacts to calls for 50 percent pass mark for Matric

JOHANNESBURG – Build One SA has reiterated its call for the Department of Basic Education to raise the pass mark to 50 per cent.

Other parties, including the IFP, supported the call in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The department briefed Parliament on its readiness for the 2024 matriculation exam.

Bosa’s Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster said the current matric pass rate of 30 per cent, with conditions, simply does not equip students for life after matric.
