Lu Kala is not pregnant, fake announcement was promoting her new song

LU KALA getting ready to release his next single!

On Friday, Nov. 22, the “Pretty Girl Era” singer, 29, shared a photo of a sonogram on Instagram. “New chapter,” she wrote next to the post.

The following day, the artist, born Lusamba Vanessa Kalala, clarified that her impending arrival is that of her latest song, titled “Cry Baby.”

“I mean I didn’t lie…I’m having a Cry Baby! Who’s ready to babysit on REPEAT? Pre-save NOW!,” LU KALA wrote to a video of himself cradling a fake baby.

The song, LU KALA revealed, is coming sometime in December.

Ever since she performed in church as a child, the Congolese-Canadian singer-songwriter knew she was going to be a pop star. “I never had a plan B,” she said PEOPLE in March 2023.

“I started doing shows locally in Toronto and got into different music shows, and then I started traveling to the US to meet people in the music industry,” she recalled.

The singer scored a viral hit last year with “Pretty Girl Era,” which has been used in over 23,000 TikTok videos since its release. She has since followed it up with her first ever Notice board Hot 100 hit as featured artist on Latto’s “Lottery”.

LU KALA finds inspiration from whatever is “on her heart” at the moment, knowing that she has to “live life” to create lyrics.

“During the pandemic, it was difficult, so I wrote mostly about past experiences, but now I’m happy to be back and write about what I’m feeling right now,” said the artist.

“Recently I’ve been feeling really pretty, confident and focused on myself – that’s where the inspiration for ‘Pretty Girl Era’ came from,” she added.
