Chukauni is a Nepalese dish and is one of the most delicious and easy-to-cook dishes in Nepal. This dish takes 10 minutes to make and yogurt is used as a primary ingredient in it. About Chukauni

Chukauni is a Nepali dish made by mixing boiled potatoes with creamy curd which makes for a refreshing food. This dish is usually prepared with a combination of spices like chili powder, cumin powder and roasted sesame powder. Spices such as Sichuan peppercorn powder and mustard powder are also added for the taste of the dish. Ginger and garlic can be added to enhance the taste of Chukauni. Every Nepalese household has a different recipe for Chukauni, which enhances its taste.

Ingredients for the Chukauni dish

1. Yoghurt – 400 ml

2. Onion – 1

3. Green chili – 3

4. Potatoes – 3 (boiled)

5. Lemon juice – adjust according to the acidity of your curd.

6. Chopped coriander – 1/2 cup

7. Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

8. Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp

9. Roasted white sesame powder – 3 tbsp

10. Salt

11. Mustard oil / Gingelly Oil – 4 tbsp

12. Fenugreek – 1/2 tsp

13. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Recipe for Chukauni

To cook Chukauni, you must first put the curd in a bowl and add sesame powder. Then add chili powder, cumin powder and salt to the mixture. Now add the boiled potatoes, chopped onions, green chillies, lemon juice and chopped coriander to the mixture. Now mix all the ingredients properly. After completing these steps, heat oil, add fenugreek seeds and turmeric powder to it. Now prepare tadka (tempering) of these ingredients and mix it in the bowl of curd. Now serve this hot and messy dish with rice.
