Rangers duo overcome injury as £5m star set for first Ibrox appearance in six months

Rangers manager Philippe Clement hasn’t had it half bad with injury problems since taking over at Ibrox.

The Belgian has seen Ranger squad decimated with problems as three long years of persistent problems catch up and continue to cost the club dearly.

Although progress has undoubtedly been made at Rangers in this regard, the club takes one step forward and two steps back with one damage curse that shows no signs of abating.

With Neraysho Kasanwirjo’s Rangers future is in doubt in the midst of recent trouble, you’d be forgiven for almost giving up hope that the Gers would ever truly banish the problem.

But it’s not all doom and gloom at Ibrox, which Philippe Clement confirms that two injured stars will be back in the lineup for it Scottish Premier League match against Dundee United.

Ross McCausland was sent home early from Northern Ireland duty and missed the country’s last two UEFA Nations League matches with a foot injury.

The problem, which saw the 21-year-old miss matches against Belarus and Luxembourg, will be a source of frustration for the young winger, who has made 15 appearances so far this season.

But ahead of the visit of Dundee United, Philippe Clement confirmed that McCausland is in contention to be involved against the Arabs at Ibrox.

“Ross (McCausland) had problems with his foot, but he’s better now, so that’s positive,” Clement gave pre-match reports.

Ridvan Yilmaz has not played at Ibrox for six months

The other major position on the injury front is the Turkish international left back Ridvan Yilmazwho has not been seen in Rangers colors since August.

The 23-year-old left-back was subbed off in the 2-0 defeat to Dynamo Kiev and has missed a staggering 16 games already this campaign.

It is now up to Ridvan to get back into the team – with Brazilian left-back Jefte making the berth his own – and live up to the staggering £5 million price tag attached to Yilmaz’s name.

Clement has confirmed the defender will be in the squad at Ibrox and is set to make his first appearance in three months’ time.

Given Rangers played at Hampden the last time the injury-hit left-back was fit, it would be Ridvan Yilmaz’s first game at Ibrox in six months.

The last time the left-back played at Rangers’ home ground was the 5-2 win over Dundee in May.

“Ridvan is training with the team again, he will be in the squad tomorrow,” said Clement. “So he’s doing well, he also played a half last week in that friendly.”
