Monday trains to serve Liverpool

Over Christmas and the New Year period, a special timetable is implemented by Merseyrail to keep people moving Liverpool The city region during the holiday season.

Except for Christmas Day, when there will be no services, the train service will run every day including Boxing Day to help those attending events or on their way to the sale.

Elsewhere in most parts of the UK there will be no train services on Boxing Day, Thursday 26 December.

To get people in the Christmas spirit, Merseyrail has arranged a number of special events including choirs, carolers and other surprises.

Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24 December

  • Normal service will run throughout the day, but the last trains will depart around 8:30 p.m.

Christmas Day, Wednesday 25 December

  • No services will work.

Boxing Day, Thursday 26 December

  • A service will operate from approximately 09:00 to 18:00.
  • The trains will not stop at all stations, but only at selected stations across the network.
  • As with Grand National earlier this yearextra services will run between Liverpool and Aintree in conjunction with the Boxing Day race meeting.

Friday 27th to Monday 30th December

  • Normal services will operate.

New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31

  • Normal services will operate throughout the day, but the last trains will depart around 8:00 p.m.

New Year’s Day, Wednesday 1 January

  • A 30-minute Sunday service will run across all lines.
