(International) Ukraine’s majority for war end talks… “Even if the country is removed, it must be over.”

A thousand days after the war in Ukraine began, more than half of Ukrainians hope to see an end to the war even if they cede parts of their territory, according to a survey.

According to a survey of 1,000 Ukrainians conducted in August and October by the Gallup pollster, 52% of respondents said they wanted to negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible. 52% of respondents said

should be open to transferring part of the territory as part of the negotiations for the end of the war”.

38% of respondents said they should keep fighting until they win and were against the transfer of territory.

These findings seem to reflect the weariness of Ukrainians due to the protracted war.

In a 2022 survey, 73% of respondents said they had to fight until they won, compared to just 22% for an end to war.

In last year’s poll, 63% said they should keep fighting and 27% said they should negotiate an end to the war quickly.

Gallup said it was the first time that a majority of those polled supporting the end-of-war agreement had reached a majority.

The former negotiator most favored by the Ukrainians appears to be the European Union (EU).

70 percent of those polled who wanted to negotiate the end of the war said they wanted the EU to play an important role in the negotiation process, while 63 percent chose Britain.

49 percent of respondents said they belonged to Donald Trump’s second US administration.

The survey was conducted before the US presidential election and received responses from presidential candidates from both parties, with 5 percentage points lower than the Democratic Kamala Harris administration (54%).
