EastEnders has revealed that Linda Carter will face “humiliation” in the coming weeks, as her history of alcoholism continues.

Linda’s struggle with alcohol has played out on the show for a number of years, but in recent months it has taken a turn for the worse.

Then the events on Christmas Day there she stabbed and killed Keanu Taylorcaused her to start drinking again. She was taken to hospital in August and she eventually decided to go to rehab before Dean’s murder trial.

Linda has been in recovery for a couple of months, but when Bernie returned to Walford and reminded her that she will never be able to move on from Keanu’s death, she relapsed into devastating scenes.

With her drinking getting heavier in recent weeks, viewers have become concerned for Linda’s well-being – and it looks like the situation is set to get even worse next month.

New advanced spoilers released by the BBC reveal it Monday, December 9makes Linda’s son Ollie a “heartbreaking confession to Johnny”.

Sharon and Alfie are both involved in plots that could involve Linda, before their friend suffers a “very public humiliation” on Wednesday, December 11. Later that week, “it is crisis time for those who love Linda”, but will they be able to save her?

The reopening of the bar also hits the square, causing Mitchell drama, and Sharon at odds with new owner Nicola.

Elsewhere, Nugget disappears, Jay worries about another resident, and the men from Walford attend a photo shoot.

EastEnders broadcast on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show is also streaming on BBC iPlayer, with most episodes being released early at 6am before their TV broadcast.
