This American-made audiophile turntable is designed to last forever

VPI is an American hi-fi manufacturer – based in New Jersey – that has been making high quality audiophile turntables for more than four decades. But its latest model, the Model Oneis designed a little differently.

As the first turntable in the company’s new Forever range, the Model One has a neat modular design that makes upgrading some of the key components – notably its motor drive and turntable as well as its tonearm – quite streamlined.

The idea is that the Model One should be easier to upgrade, service or fix than other record players. And, as the name of the series suggests, it can help the Model One last “forever.”

A modular, upgradeable design

Model One has three different upgradeable modules. One for its motor drive and platter, one for its tonearm and one for its suspension system. When VPI introduces new (advanced) models to the Forever series, you can upgrade Model One with the newer modules.

First, there is the Model One’s motor drive and plate module. Mounted on a thick aluminum plate, it features, according to the brand, “a resonance-canceling damping plate to reduce vibration and improve sound clarity.”
