Firefighters detailed the house fire in the southwest valley, collapse in broadcasting sound

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – New audio obtained by FOX5 reveals how firefighters responded when a valley home engulfed in flames began to collapse.

Four people are dead and two others are injured after a home on Langhorne Creek Street collapsed Thursday morning. Clark County firefighters responded to the three-story residence around 4:15 a.m

Upon arrival, crews attempted to enter the second floor through the front door but were pushed back by the heat. Firefighters would warn dispatchers, “There’s a heavy, heavy fire that can’t get in.”

Two crews were able to get into the garage after cutting a hole through the door but were stopped when the house began to collapse.

A firefighter reported to dispatchers: “We’re trying to get through the garage… we can’t get in. The garage is starting to experience some kind of collapse.”

Dispatchers would later warn other responding firefighters, “We have had a collapse of the roof and second floor. All units stay out of the collapse zone.”

CCFD reported that the roof, third and second floors all collapsed into the garage.

“The A/C collapsed all the way down into the garage,” a firefighter relayed. “All floors are compromised.”

The collapse would leave behind a layer of debris that posed a new hazard to firefighters. A firefighter warned: “Be careful there is a pool in the backyard covered with ash, hard to see.”

The fire outside the home was extinguished at 4:22 a.m. Firefighters would tell the dispatcher, “The fire is out. There is still a burn through the second floor and all floors burned through so we put ourselves in a safe area.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
