Leonardo DiCaprio reveals who he is voting for in the presidential election

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed who he is voting for in the presidential election.

The longtime climate activist threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris in a video posted to his Instagram on Friday, praising the Democratic nominee for her ambitious goals of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and building a “green” economy.

He cited the devastation of Hurricanes Helene and Milton – which the Titanic star called “unnatural disasters caused by climate change” – as a reason for an aggressive climate policy as he criticized former President Donald Trump for pulling out of the Paris climate accord.

“Climate change is killing the earth and destroying our economy,” DiCaprio, 49, told his 61.2 million Instagram followers. “We need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet and ourselves.

“That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris,” he said.

The actor began his video by talking about the recent hurricanes.

“Families lost homes, livelihoods and loved ones to some of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes ever recorded,” which he said cost $100 billion in damages, DiCaprio told his supporters.

“Make no mistake, these unnatural disasters were caused by climate change,” he argued.

DiCaprio then went on to claim that Trump “continues to deny the facts” and “deny the science” on climate change, as he criticized the former president for his decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement and roll back “critical environmental protections.”

“Now he’s promised the oil and gas industry that he’ll get rid of all the regulations they want in exchange for a billion-dollar donation,” the Shutter Island star claimed.

He ended the video by pleading with his followers to “Come with me and vote for Kamala Harris on November 5th because we can’t afford to go backwards.”

He added in the caption of his video that Harris “has helped lead the most important climate action in US history, and under her leadership we will be able to achieve ambitious climate policy goals that will move our country forward.”

As vice president, Harris cast the tie-breaking vote on President Joe Biden’s landmark climate change legislation that was approved by a Democratic majority.

She also helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which added $473 billion in new climate and health care spending under concern, DiCaprio noted.

The actor has voiced his support for Democratic candidates in the past and even attended a fundraiser for Biden at the home of Paramount Pictures chief Sherry Lansing in 2021.

But he also met with then-President-elect Trump in December 2016 to discuss how jobs focused on preserving the environment could boost the economy.

With less than two weeks to go before Election Day — and with many Americans poised to cast their ballots early — Vice President Harris has drawn the support of several other Hollywood bigwigs, including Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, George Clooney and Chris Rock.

Trump’s celebrity supporters, meanwhile, include Elon Musk, Dennis Quaid, Roseanne Barr and Kid Rock.
